Sisters Elsa and Phaedra Greene got discovered singing and playing the autoharp on a street corner in Savannah, Georgia. Graveface Records proprietor Ryan Graveface was the one that spotted them, inviting them to sing on some instrumental tracks he had already produced. Now the Greene sisters are on tour, playing Music Hall of Williamsburg Thursday night with Graveface's band Black Moth Super Rainbow.

There's something pleasantly analog  and old-fashioned about that story of origin. After all, the Internet age has now been around long enough to spawn two generations of digital music-discovery mechanisms (First MySpace, now YouTube and internet radio). In and of itself, getting big on the internet is no longer newsworthy. In fact, it's the norm.

So it seems particularly appropriate when the Greene sisters sing "Maybe we weren't meant for these times" in "Walking on a Wire," the leadoff track from Sleepwalking, their debut as Casket Girls.The sisters even sound apart from their own songs, engaging in girl group-style singalongs and spoken interludes while Graveface's beats unfold with a dark, sinister tone. It's pop, at snail's pace. But despite its old-fashioned origins, it sounds rooted in the present.
