Amanda Palmer was one of 2012’s most intriguing music stories. The Dresden Dolls singer used fan funding to bankroll her latest solo album Theatre Is Evil, as well as fan musicians to augment her live band. Now she closes out the year in New York City by playing Prince’s classic album Purple Rain in its entirety along with the Grand Theft Orchestra.

Download  "Want It Back" by Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra, and watch group plat "The Killing Type" in their recent appearance on Soundchek. Listen to the whole interview and in-studio session here. Palmer plays Prince’s Purple Rain at Terminal 5 this New Year's Eve.
