Canadian indie-pop outfit Islands takes a chameleonic approach to its music.
Since forming in 2005, the trio led by Nick Thorburn has taken turns at '70s-esque rock and '80s synthpop, among other moves, and on its newest album A Sleep & A Forgetting, Islands does a catchy, lovelorn variation on doo wop that Islands has dubbed “doom-wop.” (The latest release was penned while Thorburn recovered from a hard breakup and relocation from New York to Los Angeles.)
Download the playful lead single “Hallways” on the new release above and watch the morbidly whimsical music video for the song below.
