Nineteen-year-old Brazilian singer-songwriter Mallu got her start four years ago rather unexpectedly when some songs she uploaded to her MySpace page went viral.
Making the most of her instant stardom, the chanteuse has since put out three albums showcasing her sunny blend of bossa nova, samba and stateside pop.
From Mallu’s latest effort, Pitanga, comes “Velha e Louca,” (“Old and Crazy”), a playful tune with a ‘50s R&B (a la Mickey & Sylvia) flair to it. Download the track and watch its music video below.
Mallu performs at the Museum of Modern Art on Thursday, as part of the weeklong Brasil Summerfest currently underway throughout the city.
