Yellow Ostrich frontman Alex Schaaf is a classically trained musician, but his band plays an appealing brand of rough-around-the edges indie pop. The group’s first records experimented with layering vocals and percussion, but their new EP moves in a more electronic direction. Even so, Schaaf's winding, intricate melodies still command attention.
