SHOW: Saturday at Music Hall of Williamsburg ($15)

The New Jersey post-punk band Screaming Females ended 2012 on an atypically somber note. The band was forced to cancel the tail end of their fall tour due to frontwoman Marissa Paternoster’s health problems (detailed wonderfully by Paternoster herself via comics here and here). But now, after a several-month long break, the band will return to the stage.

It's hard to blame Screaming Females for wanting Paternoster to recover before returning to the grind of live performance. The singer's formidable guitar chops and equally impressive vocal style gives life to the rock-solid backbone laid down by bassist Jarrett Dougherty and bassist King Mike, and all will be sounds for sore ears at Music Hall of Williamsburg Saturday night.

Download the Screaming Females track "Ugly" above and watch a video of the band performing the songs "Halfway Down" and "Fall Asleep" in the video below.
