Tough Critics On Brandy

What do a trio of fifth graders think of the R&B singer's latest release?

Our Tough Critics aren't so sure Brandy is "in" right now.

Soundcheck presents Tough Critics, a video series starring Elisabeth, Onaje and Will -- three fifth-graders from the Little Red School House in New York City. In each episode, the trio of burgeoning music critics takes on a new release. And they don't pull any punches.

Today, our Tough Critics pick apart a song from Brandy's highly anticipated 2012 album, Two Eleven, a record that All Music Guide hailed as "one of her best."

But "Wildest Dreams" is an introspective slow jam which they're really not sure is "in" right now. In fact, they'd rather just hear it as an instrumental, because then it'd make a really good running song.

I must agree with the children. I was in J+R Music World when Brandy was scheduled to do an autograph appearance. I was for something good, and I had to tolerate the songs of Brandy's new album being played in the store. Horrible! One bad song after another. Annoying acrobatic vocals that go all over the place. And she had back-up singers that were torture as well. Can't say if the music was good. I don't usually listen to that kind of pop, but I know good songs and singing when I hear them. This album is way over-produced. I can't believe so many human beings stood in line to see Brandy!
