Tough Critics (Amy Pearl/WNYC) and MNDR (Matt Salacuse)
Electro-pop artist MNDR, (a.k.a. Amanda Warner) is no stranger to the Soundcheck studio. We first met her when she performed the club hit "Bang Bang Bang" live in the Greene Space with super-producer Mark Ronson. Then, we premiered the title track from her latest release, Feed Me Diamonds.
But now, we're throwing her to the critics -- the "Tough Critics."
Music site Stereogum called her song "Faster Horses" a "surging piece of pop," while bloggers at Pretty Much Amazing raved, "exhilarating," and CMJ says she is "at her best" on this track. However, our trio of fifth graders -- Will, Elisabeth and Onaje -- think the song is the kind of thing you should play in detention.
