Tough Critics On Jovanotti (WNYC/Amy Pearl and Giovanni Stefano Ghidini)

Soundcheck presents "Tough Critics" -- a video series starring Elisabeth, Onaje and Will, three fifth-graders from the Little Red School House in New York City. In each episode, the trio of burgeoning music critics takes on a new release -- and they don't pull any punches.

For their consideration today: "New York For Life," by the Italian rapper and musician Jovanotti. The Tuscan artist has been putting out best-selling albums overseas since the late 1980s -- and has amassed more than 1 million Twitter followers worldwide. Jovanotti's now calling New York his home -- which he sings about in "New York for Life." He gets both high and low scores from our Tough Critics, who agree that "New York is pretty awesome." They just think his rapping sounds kind of funny.
