ARTIST: Arto Lindsay
Arto Lindsay, 'Personagem'
During a long career, the musician and producer Arto Lindsay has worked in so many different styles, it was perfectly reasonable to call his new CD retrospective The Encyclopedia of Arto. A member of New York’s so-called “No Wave” scene of the 1970's, Lindsay is a pioneer of modern experimental music, while embracing jazz, funk and the sounds of his Brazilian homeland. Here’s the song “Personagem.”

The blues guitar stalwart headlines the Lowdown Hudson Blues Festival tonight, on the waterfront behind the World Financial Center. Take a listen to this track from his latest album "In My Soul."

If you’ve heard the Vampire Weekend song “Diane Young,” you’ve heard the musician Adam Schatz — he played sax on the tune. Well, Schatz's band Landlady makes its own smart, satisfying pop melodies — like “Girl.” The Brooklyn art-rockers play an album release show at Baby's All Right tonight.
Buzz Osborne is known as King Buzzo for good reason: for more than 30 years he's fronted the influential metal band The Melvins. Now he’s released an all-acoustic album, called “This Machine Kills Artists.”
