Pablo Ziegler is widely known as the leading composer of “Nuevo Tango,” a blend of classical Argentinian tango rhythms and sophisticated jazz improvisation. Hailing from Buenos Aires, the Latin Grammy Award-winning pianist has traveled the globe representing Argentina's constantly evolving sound. In this piece, “Buenos Aires Report,” Ziegler draws from the spirit of his native capital city with a lively range of pulsing rhythms, tempo and movement. Tonight at Jazz Standard, he performs with his quartet and with a certain well-known saxophonist, yet to be named, traveling under the guise of “Prometheus Jenkins.”
