Rich Aucoin
"Push"
Playing Tonight at: Pianos (158 Ludlow St., L.E.S.)
Info: Tickets ($8) | Directions

Rich Aucoin, who Spin magazine dubbed the Canadian Wunderkind, pushed the word "collaboration" to new levels when he enlisted more than 500 people to play on his first four-song commercial EP Public Publication. Lately, he's been working on a full-length electro-pop album with the same name. Aucoin spent two years traveling across Canada and recording the album in bedrooms, studios and churches. Featured on the record, which has not yet been released, are some of Canada’s biggest bands along with fans with little to no musical training. You can download “Push” above, Aucoin's homage to Daft Punk's “Harder Better Faster Stronger.” (The French electronic dance team's song is embedded below for reference.)
