"Real Life"
Playing FRIDAY at: Brooklyn Bowl
(61 Wythe Ave., Williamsburg)

Prior to forming the Brooklyn duo Tanlines, Eric Emm had been playing math rock with the band Don Caballero and avant-garde noise with the group Storm & Stress. But when he teamed up with Jesse Cohen, keyboardist for dancy post-punk outfit Professor Murder, Emm traded in his angular sound for hip-shaking beats, and Tanlines was born. This upbeat track showcases the pair's ability to combine global rhythms with synth grooves to create a genre-bending, worldly brand of pop. Tanlines will be performing at Brooklyn Bowl as part of BAM's Sounds Like Brooklyn music festival.
