Dub Is A Weapon
"Bruce Lee"
Playing at: (Le) Poisson Rouge
(158 Bleecker St., Greenwich Village)
Get: Tickets | Directions

If Bruce Lee had made a film in which he had a final fight on the streets of Kingston, this track would be the score for that showdown. Brooklyn-based collective Dub Is A Weapon have been making dub music (the mostly instrumental subgenera of reggae) since 2001, and on this swaggering jam the band sends up the hyper-cool sound of '70s martial arts film soundtracks. Fuzzy horns introduce a strut-worthy melody while dub-style percussion, guitar and organ establish a highly contagious groove.
