Kurt Vile
"Jesus Fever"
Playing FRIDAY night at: Music Hall of Williamsburg
(66 N. 6th Street, Williamsburg)
Info: Tickets ($20) | Directions

The Philadelphia-based songwriter and singer Kurt Vile dropped his fourth full-length album, Smoke Ring For My Halo, earlier this month on Matador Records. His second release on the indie-stalwart label, Vile packed his backing band The Violators into the studio to produce a rich, humming, strumming -- and often sublime -- 10-track album. Songs like “Jesus Fever” showcase the songwriter’s introspective melodies, driven by a steady finger-picking and freshly-polished vocals from a singer who was once described as mumbly and unintelligible. Take a listen and check out this video from a solo performance of his 2009 hit “Freeway.”
