Gig Alerts: Dangeroo

Monday, January 25, 2010

Every weekday, we're offering downloadable songs from artists playing in the New York City area that night. Here's one from a band banging out rock-tinged avant-garde soundscapes.

Dangeroo
"Circuit Jerk"
Playing at: Cake Shop
(152 Ludlow St., L.E.S.)
Get: Tickets ($6 at door) | Directions

One part tribal and one part post-rock, Brooklyn duo Dangeroo play experimental, improvisational music with a healthy helping of energy and a slight sense of doom. Band members Ofir Gannon and Neil Roberts use everything from six-string guitars to bells to conch shells to create a multifaceted sound. "Circuit Jerk" is full of hyperactive guitar, haunting vocal distortions and thunderous, mystical percussion.
