The Sacramento, Calif. alt-rock band Cake became popular in the late '90s thanks to its funky beats, soaring horn section and witty lyrics sung-spoken by the band's lead vocalist and songwriter, John McCrea. The winning combination has yielded a number of unforgettable songs, including the radio-hit “Going The Distance,” a slow-rock cover of “I Will Survive” and the raucous “Short Skirt, Long Jacket.” Just in time for its 20th birthday, Cake got a sixth full-length release out on the market, Showroom of Compassion. The record has the band's usual swagger and was recorded in Cake’s very own studio. Download “Long Time” from the new album here or check out the animated video for the song below.
