On Friday, the “World Famous” Jalopy Theater in Red Hook is presenting the Kings County Opry, a gritty Brooklyn take on Nashville’s famous weekly country music concert. Among the homegrown honkey-tonkers to take Jalopy’s cozy stage on Friday is The Five Deadly Venoms. With a name gleaned from a classic kung-fu film and instrumental chops that compete with America’s greatest pickers, the group has risen to the top of the borough’s booming bluegrass scene. The Five Deadly Venoms' uptempo “Toy Heart” has all the makings of a classic Kentucky stomp: mile-a-minute mandolin wizardry, fiddle pyrotechnics and beautifully harmonized yodeling vocals.
