Yet another fantastic event associated with the Unsound Festival. Brooklyn duo Zach Steinman and Sam Haar are products of the same Oberlin College class that produced the hyped Teengirl Fantasy. Their work together as Blondes is a curious contradiction: clearly informed by dance music, yet rarely fast enough to dance to. Take the hypnotic stomp of “You Mean So Much to Me” as a case in point – you might get a crowd to sway their hips to it, but it’s much more conducive to head-nodding and shoulder-rolling -- and all the better for it.
