Blind Date: Ilusha Tsinadze

Friday, May 27, 2011

To kick off Soundcheck's "Blind Date" series, we’ve set you, the listener, up on a radio date with American jazz guitarist-turned-Georgian folk star Ilusha Tsinadze. His just-released debut album, "Deda Ena" (“Mother Tongue”), offers a fresh take on traditional folk songs from his native country. He’ll join us with his band to attempt to win over the hearts—and ears—of our listeners.

I sure wish my (thankfully long ago) blind dates had been as much fun as that! Ilusha is a wonderful teacher, friend, and musician, and I'd "go out" with him again!

Wow - I ran into Ilusha in February in Prospect park while shooting a short film - and ended up shooting a music video for him right there in the snow....small world.
