San Francisco's Enablers revel in beat poetry-inspired lyrics, but these literary rockers aren't banging on bongos. While lead vocalist and poet Pete Simonelli fires off spoken word-style verse, guitarists Joe Goldring and Kevin Thompson and drummer Yuma Joe Byrnes back Simonelli with gritty rock. On "Manly," Simonelli's stirring words are superbly underscored by gnarled, agitated guitar and crashing drums.
