“Heart Of”
Playing Friday night at: Sycamore (1118 Cortelyou Road, Prospect Park South, Brooklyn)
Info: Tickets ($10) | Directions

The Toronto-based songstress Lou Canon released her self-titled debut album in May. A school teacher by day and multi-instrumentalist by night, Canon turned to folk-singer and fellow Canadian Hayden Dresser to record and produce the 10-track album. Along with the nine originals included on the release, Canon also lends her lilting vocals to The Cure’s song “Close To Me.” The first single off the record, “Heart Of,” is a steady guitar driven track complete with bopping breathy vocals and a stop-and-go rhythm section.
