Smoke Fairies
"Hotel Room"

Playing at Rockwood Music Hall (196 Allen St., L.E.S.)
Info: Tickets (FREE) | Directions

Jessica Davies and Katherine Balmire make up the British duo Smoke Fairies. The two weave tight vocal harmonies and guitar picking with American blues and British folk on their first full-length album released in the U.S., Through Low Light and Trees.

But before they made the album, Davies and Balmire caught the ear of former White Stripes frontman Jack White. Since the White Stripes broke up, he has played with The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs, and has produced the work of Loretta Lynn and Wanda Jackson. White liked what he heard and produced and played drums on Smoke Fairies’ 2009 7-inch Gastown/River Song.

Download the group's first single, “Hotel Room,” here. And if you miss tonight’s show at Rockwood, check out the pair play The Rock Shop in Park Slope on Wednesday.
