"Spread So Thin"
Playing at: Mercury Lounge
(217 E. Houston St., East Village)
Get: Tickets | Directions

The guys in Japanther believe that art punk needs girl group harmonies, and they're so right. The art project turned Brooklyn band have a new group member (Anita Sparrows of the Soviettes) and a new album, and on this first single from the record, Japanther tempers punk with old school pop sensibility. "Spread So Thin" marries "Blitzkrieg Bop" drive with "My Boyfriend's Back" vocal stylings while maintaining Japanther's signature fuzz.
