Gig Alert: Oneida

Friday, July 15, 2011

Playing Saturday at: Monster Island Basement
(128 River St., Williamsburg)
Info: Tickets (Available at door, price TBA) | Directions

The Brooklyn band Oneida is musically all over the place. Influences range from Krautrock to psych rock to noise rock to minimalist stylings. Band members have names like Kid Millions, Bobby Matador and Hanoi Jane. Shahin Motia and Barry London round out the eclectic quintet, which makes its music with an arsenal of synths, organs, guitars and multi-layered vocals.

Oneida’s latest release, Absolute II, is the final chapter of a triptych of albums begun in 2008 called “Thank Your Parents.” Preteen Weaponry was released in August of 2008 and Rated O was released in July of 2009.

You can download the blip-beeped track “Horizons” from Absolute II above or head to the Monster Island Basement in Williamsburg on Saturday night for what is certain to be a raucous set.
