Seattle’s Sub Pop Records picked up the band The Head and the Heart after its self-released, eponymous debut album dropped last summer. That is, after some grassroots record distribution and high praise about the group's full, Americana rock 'n’ roots sound and swell of vocals. The six-piece features a trio of vocal harmonies by Josiah Johnson and Jonathan Russell, who also share songwriting duties, and by Charity Rose Thielen, who also plays violin.
Saturday night's gig is up the Hudson River in Woodstock. If you happen to be up in the Catskills this weekend, you’re in for a primo Saturday night. (If not, don't fear: The Head and the Heart are slated to play three nights in the city in September; check out tour dates here.)
