Love Is All
"Kungen"
Playing SATURDAY at: Maxwell's
(1039 Washington St., Hoboken)
Get: Tickets | Directions

Love Is All frontwoman Josephine Olausson's chirpy vocals are frequently, and rightly, compared to those of a young Bjork. But the band's influences stretch far beyond the Scandinavian avant-garde; their complex harmonies and expansive, echo-chamber sound have more in common with our hemisphere's '60s psych-pop and '70s new wave. "Kungen" leapfrogs between the two, opening with a jubilant "bop-bop-ba" chorus that points straight back to The Turtles' "Happy Together," then contracting into a hushed stomp that recalls the driving verses of Elvis Costello's "Pump It Up."
