Califone's 2009 album All My Friends Are Funeral Singers is actually the musical companion to a film of the same name written and directed by Califone frontman Tim Rutili. The post-rock Renaissance man filmed the movie last year and the pic was screened at Sundance in January. This melancholic track from the album, with its spare rootsiness and strange, barely-there voices that seem to fly in from nowhere in the middle of the song, suits the film's storyline, which centers around a woman living in a house full of ghosts. Tonight, Califone performs a straight-ahead set at the Bell House. Tomorrow, the band will perform the soundtrack to the film live at IFC Center.
