Blah Blah Blah
“Crazy Fools”
Playing Wednesday at Arlene's Grocery

The Chicago-based band Blah Blah Blah is surfing its new wave-y sound around the country in support of its second EP, Thank You, Thank you.

In contrast to so many digital tricks of the faux retro variety, the band has captured its sound on analog, reel-to-reel, two-inch tape. The result is an album that is old-school, cohesive and perfect for playing all the way through.

On this track, "Crazy Fools," lead singer Solomon David uses his oohs and ahs to great effect. The Morrissey vibe is strong here in the best possible way, from the sweet hooks to the uptempo guitar licks a la The Smiths' own "This Charming Man." Such charming men, these.
