There is opera, too. Hugh the Drover by Ralph Vaughan Williams. He wanted:

"I want to set a prize fight to music. Can you find someone to make a libretto for me?"

"15 rounds" obviously dated: [the longest for a fight today, being 12 rounds of course]

"Y'all must have forgot" Roy Jones Jr's catchy rap song about his boxing career.

Aimie Mann's "The Forgotten Arm" is one of the greatest albums ever. I would put it right up there with "Blood on the Tracks." Well, almost.

Well, you miss a bunch of Bob Dylan references to boxing.

Dylan, who boxes and has been an aficiando of the sport for many years, first referenced the sport in "Who Killed Davey Moore?"

Besides covering in Warren Zevon's song about "Boom Boom" - Dylan actually did some sparring and work with Mancini.

At one time, Paul Thorn (www.paulthorn.com) . . . one of America's best and most prolific singer/songwriters . . . was a nationally ranked middleweight boxer and fought four-time world champion Roberto Duran (Duran) on network television from Convention Hall in Atlantic City. The headline in the New York Post read: "DURAN SURVIVES BLOOD BATH." Just a tad more than sparring don't you think?

PS - Paul Thorn's fight with Roberto Duran is referenced (in verse) in the title song of his early CD "Hammer and Nail."

What about Bob Dylan's "Who Killed Davey Moore"? That is more about boxing than "The Hurricane" although it is about the exploitative nature of the sport

One of my favorite Dylan songs " Who Killed Davey Moore"

How could Mike miss "Song for Sonny Liston" from the Mark Knopfler album, "Shangi-La"? Great story song. Can't beat lyrics like this:
He had a left
Like henry's hammer
A right like betty bamalam
Rode with the muggers
In the dark and dread
And all them sluggers
Went down like lead
