Vanilla Ice, Remodeled

Friday, January 27, 2012

"The Vanilla Ice Project" recently kicked off its second season on the DIY Network. Today, we get a lesson in home improvement from the rapper behind the '90s hit "Ice Ice Baby" -- Vanilla Ice, aka Rob Van Winkle.

Plus: Our Supercollectors series gets an early start, when we talk with Brent Birnbaum - a Brooklyn-based supercollector who owns more than 300 pieces of Vanilla Ice memorabilia. Seriously. Check out his collection in our Supercollectors gallery (it's photo #6).

Never have I heard a more egomaniacal uncaring self-agrandizing creature posing as a good guy! How wonderful for him - taking advantage of home losses of the more unfortunate by buying their foreclosed homes for a fraction of their value ...not with the purpose of helping the poor but for personal profit. He then has the audacity to bad-mouth Bill Gates who has dedicated his life to giving to disadvantaged children and helped control disease in poor third world countries and has done huge work to eradicate illiteracy. This totally unimportant Vanilla Ice credits the media - tv, internetm etc. for his ability to see a home miles away, fall in love and then buy it. Does he realize that his money is what enables him to buy ? That poorer people cannot make that wish come true? He seems to live in a bubble of instant magical devices all made possible by money without the slightest desire to give back. I would rather die poor than profit from another human being's loss and I practice what I preach.
He is a discredit to humanity and I'm disappointed that especially at a time when our society is becoming aware of social inequities he was given so much time to blow his horn. No need to give free publicity to someone so proudly and profoundly selfish.

I was referring to Leonard's intros to today's Soundcheck. Very funny. Not so, the actual interview. Total fluff.

He's bragging about taking advantage of the housing foreclosure situation, talking about his gadgets while so many people are worried about losing their homes, seems totally clueless and completely insensitive to what a lot of his fellow Americans are going through. Hey! He should run for office!

yo 'nilla, you gonna find a way to make whole, those that got swindled out of their homes, due to junk sub-prime loans too? or is this just about you, and 'mo money?

The only thing good about the segment was getting to hear Leonard Lopate say "Yo".

The reason Bill Gates doesn't have this stuff is that he's out busy saving peoples' lives around the world, getting kids educated and trying to make the world a better place. That's how he spends his money.

Not hanging around jerking himself off in all the myriad ways he can think of and/or afford.

Vanilla Ice is an eco-criminal. Seriously, how large is this guy's carbon footprint?

Wow, he's rich and can afford floating Murphy beds in his "smart home." Good for him.
