Javelin (Tim Soter)

Javelin
"Soda Popinski"
Playing on Wednesday at Brooklyn Bowl
(61 Wythe Ave., Williamsburg)
Get: Tickets ($5 or Free w/ RSVP) | Directions

Brooklyn duo Javelin makes tightly-crafted electro-dance gems rich in quirky, kitschy imagination that show off the band's encyclopedic knowledge of pop.

Since forming in 2005, band members (and cousins) George Langford and Tom Van Buskirk have released a full-length album and many more remixes, mixtapes, and EPs. The group has toured with acts like Yeasayer and Sleighbells, among others.

Download “Soda Popinski” above, from Javelin’s newly re-released self-titled EP. The eight-bit videogame-sampled tune is probably the closest thing to what a Beastie Boys-scored Nintendo game would sound like.

Be sure to also click on the music video for the song below. It’s filled with sea urchin choreography. You don’t want to miss that.

Javelin plays Brooklyn Bowl on Wednesday night.

Seriously? Didn't I play this by mistake on my old little electric toy organ when I was a kid?

Wheres that guy from the show about animals and music...there must be some creature that might enjoy such noise...? Nah! Only NY hipster/club kids would.
