Bluegrass fusion quintet Punch Brothers adopts an ecumenical approach to its music. The string band experiments with and incorporates elements of chamber music and rock into its progressive roots sound.
The ensemble -- Chris Eldridge (guitar), Paul Kowert (bass), Noam Pikelny (banjo), Chris Thile (mandolin and lead vocals) and Gabe Witcher (fiddle) — has released three albums since forming in 2006. The latest record, Who’s Feeling Young Now?, came out in February. Punch Brothers is also the subject of a music documentary, titled “How To Grow A Band," which is out now in theaters.
On Thursday night, Punch Brothers takes the stage at Town Hall. For a peek of what's in store, stream “Movement And Location” from the new LP above and watch the group perform "Who's Feeling Young Now" on Soundcheck in The Greene Space below.
