The acclaimed pianist Jeremy Denk is known for his vibrant playing and musings about the life of a concert pianist on his blog think denk, as well as in pieces for NPR and for The New York Times.

Another calling card is his eclectic, audacious repertoire, which includes Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 32 and piano études by György Ligeti. Denk’s latest recording, Ligeti/Beethoven, pairs the works. The album made its debut last week.

Download Denk playing Ligeti’s “Cordes à vide” from the new record. In this video, Jeremy Denk explains his interest in the Hungarian composer’s work. He plays at Le Poisson Rouge on Monday night.
