Composer Philip Glass has had a profound influence on modern American music, particularly through his seminal work in minimalism -- or as Glass describes it, “music with repetitive structures.”

To celebrate the renowned artist’s 75th birthday, the Philip Glass Ensemble will deliver a retrospective performance Wednesday at the River To River Festival in Roosevelt Park.

Before the concert, download his “Dance IX from In The Upper Room” and listen to John Schaefer ring in Glass's actual 75th birthday -- January 31, 2012 -- live on Soundcheck.
