Carla Morrison
"No Quise Mirar"
Playing on Thursday at S.O.B's
(204 Varick St., SoHo)
Get: Tickets ($12 or FREE w/ LAMC badge) | Directions

They say too much of a good thing is never a good thing. Then perhaps it’s for the best that Mexican-American chanteuse Carla Morrison uses her airy, angelic voice for reticent love ballads and bluesy mid-tempo pop. Morrison's pain and angst tempers the sweetness of her music, transforming it into tender, comforting songs that are easy to relate to.

Carla Morrison plays two Latin Alternative Music Conference showcases on Thursday night -- first at S.O.B.’s and then at the Gramercy Theatre.

Ahead of the gigs, download “No Quise Mirar” (“I Didn’t Want to See”) from her sophomore effort Dejenme Llorar (Let Me Cry), and watch the music video for her latest single “Hasta La Piel” (“Even My Skin”).

Gorgeous music. I heard this in the car and fell in love with this song.
