Unlike other alt-country acts that lean more on the rock side of things, the music of Chapel Hill, North Carolina’s Mandolin Orange is steeped in bluegrass and country blues, often with a southern gothic bent.

Bandmates Emily Frantz and Andrew Marlin put out Haste Make Hard • Hearted Stranger in late 2011. Singer Roseanne Cash described the double LP sophomore effort as having, “the plainspoken, mournful power of bluegrass and the elegance and intricacy of American classical, like Copland or Barber. Fantastic record."

Mandolin Orange hits Rockwood Music Hall on Monday night. Before the gig, download the band's lead single “Haste Make” and watch the music video for “Clover Tune” below.
