Field Report is the new project from Wisconsin-based songwriter Chris Porterfield. (Get it? It’s an anagram). Porterfield recorded much of the band’s five-years-in-the-making debut at the studio owned by his friend Justin Vernon -- who is best known for the Grammy winning project Bon Iver. But the two of them go way back, to the band they both played in almost a decade ago: DeYarmond Edison.

Field Report creates slow burning folk with just the right amount of twang -- and a focus on story, with small town Springsteen-esque themes. This track,"Chico the American," showcases Porterfield's lyricism, and his powerful delivery.

Months before release, the band spent time opening for Emmylou Harris, and are on tour this summer with The Counting Crows. But they’re not out of touch. You can reach them on the road: text your comments and questions for Field Report to 414-215-9956.
