John Peña already played bass in a Brooklyn band called Beach Fossils. But sometimes holding down the beat isn't enough. His new solo project is called Heavenly Beat, and it's a star-gazing, summery affair -- a sound he's already dubbed "Piña Colada Pop."

Download the track "Tradition" and watch a just-released music video from the band.

Heavenly Beat plays Public Assembly Wednesday night.
