The end of August is traditionally a slow time in the music biz. But between a few recent releases and some advance glimpses at a few of the many projects set to be unleashed in September, there's still plenty to occupy your ears.

Animal Collective –  Centipede Hz

Last night, Animal Collective debuted an audio stream of their upcoming, eagerly-anticipated album on its website, giving fans an early preview of this ever-shapeshifting band's new songs. And just in case their music isn't psychedelic enough for you, each song in the stream is accompanied by its own video, brimming with trippy imagery.  The album comes out on September 4 and a tour will follow.

Janka Nabay and the Bubu Gang – En Yay Sah

Janka Nabay has taken a kind of regional folk music from his native Sierra Leone called bubu and married it to the high-octane sounds of Brooklyn's vibrant Afropop scene.  The album is out now and this track, “Feba,” is one of the summer’s most irresistible grooves.

Grizzly Bear – Shields

I think it's safe to say we're all looking forward to Grizzly Bear new record, which comes out on September 18. One track, "Sleeping Ute," has already been released to the web and they too will be touring through both September and October.
