The son of two folk artists, musician Sam Amidon was steeped in folk, and as one might guess, plays folk music himself. But the artist's take on the genre is anything but traditional. On "How Come That Blood," from his forthcoming album I See The Sign, Amidon reworks a 19th century murder ballad into a haunting, modern tune. Bordering on avant-garde, the song wickedly shuffles along with dizzying fiddle, anxious strings, urgent bass and Amidon's matter-of-fact vocals.
