For Canadian indie rockers Sloan, their sophomore album arrived in the wrong place at the wrong time. Back in 1994, Geffen Records deemed the band’s shiny pop hooks too shiny for the grunge era -- so the group’s album Twice Removed was released with little promotion. 18 years later the album is a fan favorite, and Sloan is playing the whole thing on tour.
Download “Penpals,” the leadoff track from Sloan's Twice Removed. Also watch the music video for "People of the Sky" below, along with a string arrangement done by fellow Canadian Owen Pallett for the band's 20th anniversary. Sloan will play Twice Removed in its entirety plus other songs at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Monday night.
