Though jazz may have its roots in the United States, few countries have made it their own like Brazil. Case in point: drummer Duduka Da Fonseca. Born and raised in Ipanema, his soft touch on the skins mixes bossa nova with traditional, American jazz. On Melanica, his subtle rhythmic splash is evident throughout his quintet's talented dialogue.
