Chiara Angelicola has gone electro. The Brooklyn-based singer who performs as Bird Call already released 2 EPs of whimsical piano-based songs in 2010 and 2011. But her debut full length, coming this year, sets her expressive voice against synthetic backing.

It's a change that suits Angelicola's direct, impassioned voice well. Collaborator Bryan Senti has kept the spirit behind Bird Call's earlier material, with its ethereal backing arrangements and focus on Angelicola. But removing earthly instruments and adding more percussive elements allows the songs to exist on their own terms. The result are songs with a mysterious and appealing quality.

"Miracle Man" is the first song released from Bird Call's forthcoming debut full-length, and you can download it above. Below, watch a video of Bird Call covering Frank Ocean's "Pyramids." Bird Call plays the Studio at Webster Hall tonight.
