Host John Schaefer takes us on a musical trip back through time -- all without leaving his desk.

A still from Kate Nash's "Girl Gang" music video (Vimeo)

Earlier in today's show, we were just talking about music-themed journeys -- visiting the bridge that's mentioned in a classic song, or finding the alley where an album cover was shot. But, as it turns out, you don't have to actually go anywhere to take a musical trip. Host John Schaefer took one the other day, all while sitting in front of his computer.

Starting with a line mentioned in English singer Kate Nash's new song "Girl Gang," we follow the thread backward -- bumping into the California skater punk band FIDLAR, the neo-disco group Escort, the '70s reggae artist Dillinger, Bob Dylan, and finally, the blind blues artist Reverend Gary Davis
