Carly Rae Jepsen Carly Rae Jepsen

Love it or hate it, Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe", was undeniably last year's song of the summer. The chart-topper had every ingredient for summer success: it was sugary, singable, and -- most importantly -- infectious.

Although summer 2013 has yet to arrive, the unofficial song of the summer race is already heating up. Amanda Dobbins, associate editor for New York Magazine's Vulture blog, guides us through her list of the early contenders.

Amanda Dobbins, on Mariah Carey and Miguel's new song, "#Beautiful":

It's vintage Mariah, she's really back on her game -- and it's always nice to hear more Miguel.

On Daft Punk's new single, "Get Lucky":

Everyone has really embraced this song, and I understand why, I love it. I can't not dance to it.

On Ace Hood's "Bugatti"

The hook is so catchy that you can't not scream along to it.

Amanda Dobbins also taps Ciara's "Body Party" which samples Ghost Town DJ's "My Boo" as a song of the summer contender.
