Christina Courtin was steeped in the violin; she began playing the instrument as a 3 year old and eventually went on to study at Juilliard. But while she was honing her skills on the strings, she discovered her vocal chops, and she began pursuing her singer-songwriter aspirations while making a name for herself as a violinist. For her self-titled debut album released last year, Courtin let her warm voice take center stage. "Green Jay," with its soft guitar, sweet melody and Courtin's lissome vocals, occupies a cozy space between jazz and folk.
