Maluca
"El Tigeraso (Sticky K Remix)"
Playing at: Santos Party House
(96 Lafayette St., Chinatown)
Get: Tickets ($15 at door) | Directions

Believe it or not, Natalie Ann Yemez, better known as Maluca, was discovered in a downtown karaoke bar. The New York native was working in the Lower East Side spot when one night she took a break from her duties and started singing -- and star producer Diplo was listening. Shortly after the meeting, Yemez was signed to Diplo's label Mad Decent and last summer she turned out her first single, the electro-merengue jam "El Tigeraso." The EP features a number of remixes, including this Sticky K reworking which takes the frenetic Latin beat of the original and cranks it up to another manic level. Tonight Yemez teams up with Kelis at Santos Party House. Advance tickets for the show are sold out, but a limited number of first-come, first-served tickets will be available at the door at 7pm.
