The latest album from DJ Rob Swift, The Architect, sounds like a symphony orchestra conducted by Grandmaster Flash.

Raised in Jackson Heights, Queens, Swift has tested the limits of turntables and vinyl records since the age of 12. Now, he's blurring boundaries in two stalwart music genres: hip-hop and classical. He joins us to perform for our live audience in WNYC's Greene Space.

Watch: live webcast of today's show (April 26, 2-3 pm ET)

Let get this straight:
Until his girlfriend told him about a piece from Chopin (which is not all THAT exciting anyway), he had never heard any classical music before?? That's some education system we have in the USA.

Hello!!! There is a station called WQXR. They play only classical music. Duh!! Hey, Rob, all you have to do is tune in to 105.9 FM and hear music that's superior to anything hip-hop has ever done.

i use to love X-ecutioners and Rob's first album, but this was really just kind of painful. i'm all for the avant garde, in any genre, it's what really draws me in. but this was just a mess. and what a poor selection of tracks to play around with!

Soundcheck, enough with the rap music. It's not your strong suit. Stick to what you know.

Yea - that DJ was really bad! Where was the classical influence? Sounded like he is just learning how to mix - agreed - was really hard to listen to! painful!

Love Soundcheck & WNYC!

great concept but the mixing Rob did was horrendous. It was a bit painful to listen to. I was hoping for something better but oh well, still enjoy the show.
