Clearly, his retro-flavored music strikes a chord in modern-day Germany: several of his albums have sold more than 100,000 copies and some of his tongue-and-cheek takes on modern pop hits, including "Oops! I did it again!" have brought cabaret-style music to new audiences.
Note: New York listeners can catch Max Raabe at Carnegie Hall on Nov. 2.
